FAQ

What kind of eating disorders do you treat?
My focus is on healing relationships with food, body, and movement. While some individuals may meet clear criteria for anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder, many others do not. The most common eating disorder is called 'other specified feeding or eating disorder'. This majority of people don't fit the clean lines of the major diagnoses, but that does not correlate with severity or importance of the struggle. In my practice I treat any individual who is interested in strengthening their relationship with food and body and finding greater peace and freedom in these areas.
Do I really qualify to seek help?
Yes. I treat all levels and nearly all types of eating disorders. Many people worry that they don't 'deserve' to seek help. This could be because they don't believe they meet classic criteria for an eating disorder, because there are people struggling more than they are, because it's not "that bad", or because they eat "too much". For many reasons, it is very challenging work to heal our relationships with food and body, and therapy from a specialized clinician can be critical in the ability to move toward food and body freedom. If you are unhappy with these areas of your life, then you deserve the support and guidance that it takes to heal.
How long is each session and how often will we meet?
A standard session length is just under one hour. At the initial appointment, we will discuss session frequency and create a plan together. I often recommend that we begin by meeting weekly, as it allows us to get to know one another and to better facilitate movement toward your goals. As progress is made, we may step down to biweekly sessions. If finances are a barrier for you, we can explore together how often you are able to meet.
What is your fee for therapy?
Initial intake appointment: $200
Subsequent therapy appointments: $160
